The Creative Minds of Theme Park Employees

So we all know that theme park employees have a pretty rough job. On more than one occasion I've heard horror stories in person and online--just check out StupidGuestTricks.com for a general idea. Not to mention the attitude of Disney officials who have sometimes been called "Nazis in Mickey hats". Just check out the trials and tribulations of one ex-Jack Sparrow (http://lamag.com/featuredarticle.aspx?id=7016&page=1).

In a study released last year (I'm not making up statistics here folks--though 80% of statistics are made up...I kid, I kid), Orlando was deemed the "angriest" city in the United States based on several factors (including self-stated personality polling, counts of aggressive driving, medications prescribed, etc.). It's not simply a symptom of the Disney experience--all theme park officials tend to crack down on their employees--especially those who work as character actors.

There is, however, the rare occasion when employees take the initiative to shine, going above and beyond to create something worth sharing with the rest of the world--something definitely not in the job description. A lot of these projects appear on YouTube--many of them are eventually pulled by corporate--but some luckily slide through the cracks. In the spirit of celebrating what these companies should be promoting, I'll be posting videos from time to time--mostly Universal, a few Disney.

Jaws the Musical - How to Tune a Fish is the first up. This is probably the first video I stumbled upon and one of the best of the bunch. It combines it all, the ever-enthusiastic Jaws skippers, great energy, cheesy editing and choreography (not to mention the horrible singing/lyrics), and honest dedication. Plus it's funny as hell. Sad to say it's been repeatedly pulled from YouTube.
